Breakers Deep-Six 36ers

A devastating fourth quarter onslaught from the NZ Breakers has seen them win their first ever Australian NBL home playoff game, 131-101 over the Adelaide 36ers at North Shore Events Centre on Thursday night. For the Breakers guard CJ Bruton caught fire in the fourth quarter as he nailed five straight triples in the period to bury Adelaide’s semi-final hopes and propel the Breakers to their highest ever NBL score.

Tall Ferns forward Jillian Harmon sits on the cusp of a major US college milestone. Harmon needs 23 more points to become the 29th women’s player in Stanford University history to score 1000 career points, and has at least eight games remaining this season to reach four digits. Pledger Banks Stats
Tall Blacks back-up big man Alex Pledger sparked into life for his US college team in North Carolina last week. Pledger, who sat out six weeks earlier this season with an elbow injury, averaged 15.7 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.7 blocks per game as his Belmont Abbey Crusaders went 3-0 last week in NCAA division two play.

Ferns Job Wide Open
Incumbent Mike McHugh has not sought reappointment as head coach of the New Zealand women’s basketball team. The Tall Ferns attended their third consecutive Olympic Games in Beijing last year, compiling a 1-4 record through pool play with their only victory coming against African champions Mali.
