Obit: Basil Marsh QSM

Basketball New Zealand life member Basil Marsh QSM passed away on Wednesday night in Tauranga Hospital.

Marsh, a Queen’s Service Medal recipient for services to the community, had an involvement of more than 60 years with basketball in New Zealand, including coaching, managing, officiating and administrating.

The “Save the Nugs” campaign is gaining momentum, with a family pledging $5000 to the cause over the weekend. The family wished to remain anonymous but Otago Nuggets assistant coach Gavin Briggs said the large donation was an indication of the level of community support for the beleaguered franchise.
