Ruscoe Heads To Mid-West
Brook Ruscoe was a Junior Tall Black, now he is a Greyhound. Ruscoe, one of New Zealand’s standout performers at July’s FIBA U19 World Championship in Auckland, leaves Tuesday for the USA and a basketball scholarship with Moberly Area Community College.

The ecogise Nelson Giants centre left town yesterday to take up a contract with the Cairns Taipans, returning to Far North Queensland where he began his career in the Australian National Basketball League . . .

Internationals Live On SKY
Basketball fans will see the New Zealand senior men’s and women’s teams live later this month during the FIBA Oceania Championships, with Basketball New Zealand and SKY Sport confirming a partnership. The Tall Blacks game two meeting with the Australia Boomers on Tuesday, August 25 from Wellington’s TSB Bank Arena will be the first basketball game in New Zealand broadcast in high definition.

FIBA Agents' Test
As of December 31, 2008, basketball’s world governing body, FIBA, required sports management agents who represent players in negotiating international transfers to be accredited by FIBA. Both Basketball Australia and Basketball New Zealand also require those who arrange purely domestic transfers to be licensed by FIBA.

TBs Tickets On Sale
Tickets for the New Zealand Tall Blacks sole game on home hardwood have gone on sale via Ticketek. Adult tickets for game two of the FIBA Oceania Championship for Men between the Tall Blacks and Australia Boomers at Wellington’s TSB Bank Arena range from $15-20, while children’s and students prices range from $10-20.

Palmy To Host Qualifiers
Palmerston North will host the first FIBA Oceania age-group championship in New Zealand since 2006, with confirmation of the 2010 FIBA Oceania U18 Championships. Basketball New Zealand’s bid, in conjunction with Sport Manawatu and Arena Manawatu, to host the championships was approved by FIBA Oceania in July.

This time there was no late surge for the New Zealand Tall Blacks. Unable to repeat their fourth-quarter comeback against Belgium two days earlier, the Tall Blacks fell 102-91 to Finland in their European Tour finale in Vantaa on Monday. Pledger Hits Game-Winner
A game-winning basket from centre Alex Pledger with 0.5 seconds remaining lifted the New Zealand Tall Blacks to an 83-81 win over Belgium in Antwerp on Friday. Pledger took an assist from point guard Lindsay Tait under the basket and flipped the shot in the lane up and in to complete a stirring fourth quarter comeback . . .
