Internationals Live On SKY

Basketball fans will see the New Zealand senior men’s and women’s teams live later this month during the FIBA Oceania Championships, with Basketball New Zealand and SKY Sport confirming a partnership. The Tall Blacks game two meeting with the Australia Boomers on Tuesday, August 25 from Wellington’s TSB Bank Arena will be the first basketball game in New Zealand broadcast in high definition.

FIBA Agents' Test

FIBA Agents' Test

As of December 31, 2008, basketball’s world governing body, FIBA, required sports management agents who represent players in negotiating international transfers to be accredited by FIBA. Both Basketball Australia and Basketball New Zealand also require those who arrange purely domestic transfers to be licensed by FIBA.

Adult tickets for game two of the FIBA Oceania Championship for Men between the Tall Blacks and Australia Boomers at Wellington’s TSB Bank Arena range from $15-20, while children’s and students prices range from $10-20.

Palmerston North will host the first FIBA Oceania age-group championship in New Zealand since 2006, with confirmation of the 2010 FIBA Oceania U18 Championships. Pledger Hits Game-Winner

A game-winning basket from centre Alex Pledger with 0.5 seconds remaining lifted the New Zealand Tall Blacks to an 83-81 win over Belgium in Antwerp on Friday. Pledger took an assist from point guard Lindsay Tait under the basket and flipped the shot in the lane up and in to complete a stirring fourth quarter comeback . . .
